This is the best bike rack I have used. I have it installed in my 1999 Ford Ranger, which has the short AND narrow bed (my truck is a flareside). I was worried it wouldn't telescope down narrow enough to fit inside the bed but it does (with a few inches to spare). Once you learn how the mounts work (very similar to a QR skewer), mounting or removing your bike is a snap, even if you have a non-traditional frame (full suspension MTB, oblong/square tubes, sloping top tube, etc.)

I was planning to use this item as an alternate to a roof rack for my new CR-V for inside-the-vehicle storage. Once I installed it and saw how well it worked, I decided to forego the roof rack and just use the Stable-Loader all the time. No worries about trashing the bike, rack, or CR-V if I forget to take the bike off the roof when entering the garage. ;-)
