Installed a set of 700x40 (42c) on a surly long haul trucker touring bike. I went with these instead of more expensive options and couldn't have been happier. They have excellent grip and are predictable cornering and braking.

My ultimate commuting tire would be 700x32, have many layers of kevlar to never get a flat, a kevlar bead to go on really easily, and weigh about 300g.
These are steel beaded and pretty heavy, but big, comfy, and I've never flatted one. They're not perfect, but they'll roll me to work every morning on all kinds of terrain. And they don't cost a lot. They just sit on my bike and make it go, and I don't have to think about them.
