Originally conceived in 2002, the re-designed WeirWolf tire from WTB is a product of 5 years development between top endurance downhiller Mark Weir and WTB chief designer Mark Slate. The product is a tire with unparalleled grip and predictability at any lean angle. The terraced side knobs feature an advanced progressive design. The tread is soft on initial turn-in and conforms to the terrain. The faster the turn-in the firmer the knobs become. The "Comp" differs only in it's steel bead and single compound rubber from it's more expensive "Race" and "TCS" versions. The tread design is identical. The WeirWolf is at home on all big XC mountain rides, Super-D and downhill adventures.

With great service and timely delivery from Jenson, these WeirWolf tires are my favorite thread. After eight years of use, this design has provided reliable flat free service during extended bikeaneering exploits throughtout the high Cascade backcountry in conditions from snow to bone dry eastside desert. From low pressures to pumped up, these tires are unrivaled.

Tires came on my Bianchi SASS and have not ever let me down. They shed mud quickly and grip really well!

Other comments noted the controlled skid and release of these tires and gives time to respond - they do this and this is important to my riding where I induce skidding to help turning tight. I like these tires very much and will more them again.

Comments about WTB Weirwolf Comp Tire '12:

This is a solid tire, it is not the best for hardpack, mainly because it is too slow. You will find yourself pedaling more than you might like on the down. These are great in mud and water.

Comments about WTB Weirwolf Comp Tire '12:

I was amazed with how well these tires dig into the ground, especially during turns. You can literally hear the tire ripping into the ground as the terraced tread engages during tight turns. I haven't had the pleasure of riding these things through mud and other wet conditions, but from what I've seen so far I can assess that they won't let me down.

I probably shouldn't 5-start this item since I haven't had time to ride them in all conditions/terrains, but I'm going to be out the country for 7 weeks and won't ride them until I get back. So as is, I'm saying that these tires are an amazing purchase for loose to hardpack soil/gravel and they perform well on rocks. A must buy for a tire that will blow your mind.
