I use these chains on both my MTB & road bikes with no breaking problems. Keep them well lubricated (as you would any chain) and clean them occasionally. I run them for about 12-18 months before repacement.
Product Used For: 2 or More Years
Product Strengths:Cheap, easy & strong!
Product Weaknesses:The Shimano chain pins can be difficult. The Jenson staff recommended the SRAM Powerlink which work great.
My Bike:Titus Racer X, Kona the King, S-Works Allez Road Bike, and many more.

In a nutshell, I am absolutely devoted to the 7701 chains, as they give reliability to the area of the bike where most problems occur: Drivetrain. No matter what bike I have put them on, they hold up even when frames and freehubs give up!
Product Used For: 2 or More Years
Product Strengths:I have been using XTR chains for the past 5 years, since snapping 2 SRAM Chains and a $50 Wippermann stainless steel chain NOT AT THE CONNEX LINK. I still use the Wippermann Connex link with the XTR chains, even though they are not supposed to work together, I have yet to have any problems with this setup. I have also exploded 4 freehubs at pawl to pawl-seat interfaces (2006 Shimano XT, 2007 Mavic SX, and 2 cheapies) on steep, rocky climbing sections of National Trail, so I am very confident that the 7701 chains are just about the strongest out there.
Product Weaknesses:As with ALL Shimano chains: the break-away pin can be a little bit of a pain because they are easily misplaced. (c:}
My Bike:Older Specialized Enduros and Intense 6.6 (after breaking the Enduros multiple times in various places!)

Eric a XC Rider from Melrose, Nm United States writes:
Seems pretty strong so far, took it out climbing and descending in the vicinity of Yongin in South Korea the first weekend I had it installed. For me the price was great because a crappy HG 53 (our only option) over here is $33 US and I only paid $22 market for the chain. I would definitely buy again.
Product Used For: 1 Month
Product Strengths:Strong, light
Product Weaknesses:A little tight at first, had to work it loose, but just about every chain I've ever used has been the same
My Bike:05' Fisher Tass, X9 drivetrain, all else pretty much still stock.

Much quieter than my outgoing chain (not sure what it was, whatever came stock on my bike). Not anymore expensive than a "lesser" chain. Works perfect (of course) with my XT cassette.
Product Used For: 1 Month
Product Strengths:Dead silent. Takes all the abuse I can give it.
Product Weaknesses:Needs special pins to reattach. LBS charged me about the same as a five-pack costs here, for just one pin.
My Bike:Specialized Rockhopper

great product, no problems so far. Works well with Simano driveline. Not worth buying unless you desperately need a new chain. I had a cheap shimano chain and it worked almost as well. Buy this if you like spending money.
Product Used For: 6 Months
Product Strengths:Crisp shifts
