I recently had an older SRAM chain snap. I put on a new chain and after cleaning it really well, I applied this lube. This is the first time I have used this and heard nothing but good about it so I was caught off guard when I ran into problems with shifting. Knowing that a really old chain can wear down the cassette and chain rings, I decided to install an entirely new drive system along with the new chain (including a new rear derailleur). However, I still had shifting problems. After 40 hours of mechanical work and 4 bad 10 mile rides, I decided to check the grease again. The indicators were the same every time - the first 20 minutes of riding was fine, then WHAM, the shifting messed up again. I tried all chains - same issues. I then went back to the old lubricant I used to use and had no problems at all. This White Lightning dries out too much and flakes off the chain allowing rust and poor shifting. I did some more online research and found other riders were having the same problem. I am going back to wet silicone based lubes which may get dirtier and get grime on you, but at least they work! This White Lightning cost me a lot of heart ache! It's pure garbage.
Product Used For: 3 Months
Product Strengths:-Stays clean on the chain
-Easy to apply
Product Weaknesses:-Allows chain to rust
-Loses lubrication properties fast - dries out/falls off which causes...
-Extremely poor shifting
My Bike:Giant NRS Air using SRAM chains (PC991 and older model) and more recently a Shimano HG-73.

Excellent product as long as it's applied after every ride. It keeps the grit down which makes the chain and associated components last longer.
Product Used For: 2 or More Years
Product Strengths:When I first tried the product I was very disappointed because I was using it like a conventional lube, I'd apply it before my rides. Then I discovered the secret, you need to apply it AFTER every ride so that it dries. My current chain has been on the bike for over a year with just an occasional hose off and it's fairly clean and in good shape. I strongly recommend this product.
Product Weaknesses:If allowed to drip on the ground or tire, it leaves a white spot. I put a paper towel below the chain when I apply it.
My Bike:An old Trek 970 that's probably had more than 100 different components on it since 1988.

I love this product...comparable to sliced bread. It's a bit pricey but the bottle will last surprisingly long. When the treated chain becomes wet, the water beads up/off and will not penetrate the bearing surfaces. It will work best if the drivetrain is COMPLETELY de-greased before applying. This is THE best drivetrain lube I have ever used. Period. I will never switch back to conventional lubes.
Product Used For: 3 Months
Product Strengths:Easy-to-apply, won't rub off easily. Keeps my drivetrain looking and working like new. Leaves no greasy/oily stains on clothes!!
Product Weaknesses:This is minor, but, when applying the lube it has a tendency to drip/creep and build up on the cog & ring the chain is on. I have found that applying a lighter coat and then allowing it to dry before adding another light coat prevents waxy build-up on the rings and cogs. Some may argue that it is better to have some build-up, but I contest that the build-up occurs on non-bearing surfaces and is, therefore, useless.

I strongly recommend this lube. Be sure to clean the chain completely before first time use (even on brand new chains). Going to buy my second one now. Good bye wet lubes.
Product Used For: 1 Year
Product Strengths:After two hours from aplication it dries completely so dust and sand do not stick to the chain unlike other wet lubs (Finish Line, etc). Only on muddy conditions the chain gets dirty but then again that would be asking for a miracle.
Product Weaknesses:None so far.

It is a very good product. I recommend anybody to buy this product.
Product Used For: 2 or More Years
Product Strengths:Great, stops all corrosion. Provides a smooth ride. Doesn't let dirt collect on chain or other components.
Product Weaknesses:It collects a bit, just wipe off and reapply. Just make sure you wipe off before reappling.
My Bike:Trek Y26 and Specialized P2
