Overall I would have to say that the trinewt is simply not worth the price (I paid $300, list is $400). There are way to many design flaws and annoying features to justify the price. I have been commuting at night for over a decade and was looking for an upgrade for my 5 year old halogen system (vistalite). After trying both the handle bar and helmet mount I just could get the beam pattern to focus and shine in the way that illuminated the road very well. It would be a nice light for $150 but for $300-$400 it is just simply not worth the cost. Also, I believe that some of the beamshots of the light that are floating around the internet do not show the real limitations of the beam pattern (I could never get my light to illuminate the road nearly that well).
Product Used For: 1 Month
Product Strengths:Nice white light. Good battery life.
Product Weaknesses:Mounting system (both handle bar and helmet) are hard to adjust while you ride. On/off switch on the battery is annoying (how hard can it be to put the switch on the light). The beam pattern really isn't very good for road riding. Too expensive for what you get.
My Bike:Road bike for commuting.

I have to try it off road to get some idea of what I 9have been missing out on at night.
Product Used For: 1 Month
Product Strengths:Bright, but really shines when its really dark. I wont outrun it coming home from work at 1030pm. 500 lumens is unreal. I turned it on for a mate and blew him away when I told him it was my bike light.
Product Weaknesses:Its a bit messy if you want to mount the light under the handle bar as the cable sticks up. I feel a bit bad for on coming traffic.
My Bike:Giand TCR Advance1 & Giant XTC1

Overall I'm pretty happy. I was turned off by HID lighting's weaknesses and am excited by the simplicity offered by the LED's. Any issues I have with the system are purely ergonomic as the function of the unit is spot on.
Product Used For: 1 Month
Product Strengths:Surprisingly bright. The output is easily comparable to an HID light and cast usable light about 30 feet down the trail with no distracting dead or bright spots. You would have a hard time out running this light. Seems to have long run times. I haven't used it for longer than 2.5 hours, but at that point it shows no sign of letting up.
Product Weaknesses:While the overall package is quite light because of the light weight lithium ion batteries, the actual light housing is more heavy than I expected. I purchased this light specifically to use as a helmet mounted light, and while it's not to heavy, it is noticeable.
Also I don't understand Niterider's decision to place the on off switch on the battery as opposed to the light itself. Maybe just to give them the option of charging and extra $100 for the wireless version.
And lastly I'm not 100% on the "rubber band" mounting system. The verdict is still out
