I bought this when I was building up my bike last year. It's easy to tune, and stays in tune very well. I've ridden everywhere- Downhill, Urban, and a lil bit of hucking. I smashed this thing dozens of times, and it still works flawlessly.
A freakin' tank of a derailleur. Do it.
Product Used For: 1 Year
Product Strengths:Strong, durable, the smoothest shifting, and doesn't need to be tuned frequently.
My Bike:Azonic Steelhead, XT shifters, Deore cassette.

I used to have a plain ol deore, and I noticed the difference once I started riding XT. It looks nice, feels smooth. No Clu Clanks when you shifting going up a steep hill.
Product Used For: 1 Year
Product Strengths:Very smooth shifting, light weight
Product Weaknesses:Have not yet experienced any weaknesses.

Rick a XC Rider from San Jose, Ca United States writes:
It works and I don't have to worry about it. can't complain about that. I ride it hard. I broke a chain about a month ago, fixed the chain, and the derailleur still works fine. When it wears out I'll put another one on it.
Product Used For: 1 Year
Product Strengths:Very reliable once you dial it in. Replaced a XTR with this and I think it is more rugged than the XTR. Haven't adjusted it in a year and a half, and I beat the "you know what" out of my bike. It still shifts perfectly. I ride in rocks, mud, dust, streams, etc. I clean my bike once a year whether it needs it or not. I do lube the chain weekly, so I am not an idiot.
Product Weaknesses:The spring in the main pivot, attached to the frame needs to be stronger. I find myself dialing the adjustment screw to the max with a 9-cog cassette (34t). The tensioner pulley rides on the 34T cog when in small front chain ring and largest back cog. Not a big deal though, as I don't use Great Grandma Gear much.
My Bike:Cannondale Jekyll. Mostly XT hardware. Full Suspension with Lefty, disc brakes.

troublesum, ok, but not the best.
Product Used For: 2 or More Years
Product Strengths:its good for what it is its not the best derailleur i have ever used (sram is better) but its not bad get one if u know ur not going to go really fast through rough terrain
Product Weaknesses:it last about 3 mounths i have milked one for about 1 year and i dont think i will ever again it need to not be pot metal and made from a stronger metal ( titanium, aircraft aluminum) i may have had bad experiences with shimano or they suck the only good thing about shimano is the shifters if you dont like sram
My Bike:cove hardtail it has been repainted twice and i have no clue what model
