Charles a Roadie from Seattle, Wa United States writes:
The Brooks saddles are a unique item. If they fit you, they can be extremely comfortable, and last a long time. Although their technology is old-school charming, it causes the saddle to not be an install-and-forget item. I personally would give it 5 stars for riders like myself, but seeing that this is mostly an mtb crowd that can tend to chew up their gear, this might be a 4 star item for the average mtb'er.
Product Used For: 1 Year
Product Strengths:The Brooks quickly became a very comfortable saddle for me--the best I have had. This is a good saddle for someone with wide sit bones and/or a more upright seating position. If you take a standard width, there are other Brooks saddles for you--Swift, Swallow, Professional, etc. The B17 looks very retro and cool. You can adjust it over time so that you maintain the same feel.
Product Weaknesses:The B-17 is not a lightweight, except in titanium. It requires more care than the average plastic saddle, and there is a short break-in period before it becomes perfect. Initially it can be a bit hard and slippery, and then one day you notice it feels just right.
My Bike:I have one on my commuter, one on my hardtail, and one on my roadie.
