I am very pleased with these shoes, and will find it hard to ride on my old Sidis again. I intend to ride the Lakes in dry weather only.
Product Used For: 1 Month
Product Strengths:The fit and comfort of these shoes is unique. I ride single-track single-speed exclusively from snowmelt to snowfall on a Salsa Ala Carte without a suspension fork. I was looking for a dance slipper, more or less, and these shoes fit the bill. Although I have used them only for a month or so, I could tell in the first ride that they enabled me to point up the trail more directly by the obstacles I was able to clear. My foot is essentially suspended inside the shoe's carbon envelope by what feels like memory foam. I have competed as a marathon inline skater for years on custom carbon fiber skates that employ very similar technology, and I am very pleased to find this applied to cycling shoes. The fit is snug, easily adjusted by the BOA lacing system, and as chance would have it, I did not have to mould the shoe, as it fit perfectly right out of the box. So for my purposes, these are ideal. I recommend them without reservation.
Product Weaknesses:I don't see this as a weakness, per se, but the shoe has a bit more volume than the Sidis I am accustomed to. That is, the carbon and padding make the surrounding membrane a bit thicker. There is an envelope of high density foam around one's foot, which is particularly noticeable on the bottom. For anyone who suffers from Hot foot, these would be a great choice. But although these are minimal in the weight department, they are slightly larger than conventional shoes.
My Bike:Salsa Ala Carte, single speed. White Eno setup. TA cyclocross cranks, 33x22. No suspension. The most fun I have had on a bike since I was a kid.

Really bad product overall, this is why they are probably clearing them out. I am going to be contacting Lake for a refund...
Product Used For: 1 Month
Product Strengths:Nice tight fit and light
Product Weaknesses:The rubber sole is falling off both shoes. The metal insert for cleats is not properly aligned on the right foot so I can't get my cleat installed in the correct position for my foot.
My Bike:Rocky Vertex 30 with 2Ti Eggbeaters

I have a pair of Lake shoes and love them. as for the BOA mechanical closure system they suck!!!! I would purchase another pair of Lakes. But anything with the cheap string BOA stuff, not in a million years! It nearly cost me a race day!
Product Used For: 6 Months
Product Strengths:I'm not saying anything bad about Lake, but the BOA mechanical closure system sucks big time!
I had it on my Pearl Izumi shoes and just 1 hour prior to LaRuta day 3 the damn piece of crap snapped! I had to use duct tape and ties to hold the shoe on!
Go Velcro!!! I heard even the plastic snaps break.
Go simple or don't go.
Product Weaknesses:BOA mechanical closure system sucks!
