These are great for a utility, beater or commuter bike. With the friction shifting, You never have to worry about if your bike is tuned, just jump on and go. I am surprised how easy it is to find the gears on the rear, I hardly notice it isn't indexed. Cheap and well made for what they are. Mostly made of metal, so they should hold up OK. 5 stars because it exceeded my expectations. It's not going to compare to an XT shifter, but it isn't supposed to.
Product Used For: 1 Month
Product Strengths:Cheap, Easy to use. Comes with cables and housing
My Bike:Old rigid MTB set up as commuter. Running a triple with a 7 speed rear.

Cheap cheap cheap...friction...can work within Shimano, Campagnolo, SRAM derailleurs and cogs without a problem...no more compatibility issues. The fact that it is friction lets me shift through slop created by the extra cable/housing of my Xtracycle. Not race-ready responsiveness, but slow, deliberate and reliable.
Product Used For: 3 Months
Product Weaknesses:Ugly as sin....
My Bike:Using it with my cargo bike, which is a Gary Fisher with an Xtracycle.

These are actually affordable thumbies that work well with the Jeff Jones Ti bars. No joke. They can push a 9 speed drive train easily.
