Great Trail Pedal
So, I waited until I had 6 rides on the Contacts before writing my thoughts. First and foremost, they grip better than the Spank Spikes I had previously, and it's not even close. With the Spikes, I simply had to "twist my ankle" to get my 5-10 Free Riders to reposition on the pedal, even if I were standing........... Not so with the Contacts. I have to basically take off all of my weight and "dab my ankle" to reposition. The first few rides I struggled a bit to reposition, but I have now gotten the hang of it and I don't have to think about it as much, and I'm betting by the end of the month, I won't give it another thought.

The Contacts match, and actually exceed the Spikes in width (from crank arm face to end of pedal) but are about 7mm less in length (from front wheel to back wheel) and that also took a few rides to get used to, but like with the grip, I am now pretty much used to it. Also, I thought I was going to feel the 4mm extra thickness of the Contacts compared to the Spikes (16mm vs 12mm), but I never have.

Overall, I am extremely happy with the Contacts. With their tenacious grip, I can actually pull back on the pedals while climbing, and when descending or simply hammering through a rough section, my feet just don't move at all.

I do think Chromag is hurting themselves by marketing the Contact as a "dirt jumping pedal" because even though they say the Contact's "bring your feet closer to the crank, for better control while doing tricks", they are in fact wider than the Spikes by a few mm's, and they even stand off of the crank arm face (where pedal platform begins) more than the Spikes do, so your foot can actually rest naturally on the Contact even a little further away from the crank arm face than with the Spike, which is considered a "trail pedal".

I will update any durability issues if they arise............ Figure no news is good news.

Burly pedals
Best flat pedals I have ever had. I ride on gnarly granite in Phoenix and usually lose pins-not the case with these pedals-they take a beating but all pins still intact-very nice product

everything you need in a platform pedal.
These give you great grip but allow you to get off the pedal when you need to, unlike other high end platform pedals like Straightline. I've gone through Deity, Straightline, Crankbrothers, and these are by far my favorite. These will be used for urban mtb, street, park.

solid pedals
Good, grippy pedals. I use them for trail riding and DJs. They could be slightly thinner and lighter, but not much.

Great so far.
I've switched to these after riding Saint pedals for the last year. These are a big improvement. My foot is positioned closer to the crank, which I prefer for some reason. The Shimano Saints have a bulge where the inboard bearing is housed, and I was always placing my foot on top of this, which then lifted my foot off the the pins.
Bottom line, these feel great and do not slip or roll on me. Hopefully they last.

Great Platform Pedals for Price
My LBS was selling these for $129 retail. Snagged a pair off Jenson for $89 at time of purchase. Was planning on getting Spank, but these have performed just as good and are priced right.

Nothing negative to say...Great grip, not too heavy, good bearings, and they look awesome...Only problem is no one ever has the blue, so I went with red.

Can you fit straps on these?
A shopper on Jun 16, 2017
BEST ANSWER: they aren't meant for it as they are a high quality pedal meant for riding hard but im sure you could fit them
I see no place to put the hex wrench to install these. Are these to be hand-tightened?
Melinda on Jul 7, 2016
BEST ANSWER: From the picture, it looks like there is a female hex socket on the end of the threaded shank. This allows you to tighten them from the back side of the crank and clears the real estate previously held by wrench flats for the pedal platform surface to move inboard.
Why does it say "9/16?" Is that the spindle size that attaches to the crank arm, or the pedal size? I just bought a specialized rhyme, new, from specialized. Will these fit?
jenn on Jun 15, 2016
BEST ANSWER: 9/16" refers to the diameter of the pedal spindle at the threads and needs to match the size of threads on the crank arm. There are generally only two sizes. 1/2" and 9/16". 9/16" is more common and found on adult bikes while 1/2" is usualy seen on childrens or some BMX bikes. These will work on your Rhyme.
