Niner Ros 9 Plus NX Jenson 2016 Bike

Niner Ros 9 Plus NX Jenson 2016 Bike

What do you get when you cross a 29er with a fat bike? The answer is the Niner ROS 9 Plus! By using the insanely popular ROS 9 long travel hardtail geometry to draft up the blueprint for the ROS 9 Plus, Niner has introduced the first trail-esque rigid 29+ shredding machine.

Many of the 29+ Bikes on the market have taken on a short travel cross country geometry, whereas the ROS 9 Plus slackens the headtube and shortens the chainstays to make this a true fun factory of a bike. The tire clearance can accommodate 3.0 tires which bolster traction and plushness to previously unknown levels. The frame is constructed from 4130 ChroMoly steel which lives up to its reputation as a bombproof material that will absorb the abuse inflicted by the most unforgiving of trails, offering the resilience and ride quality you want for unruly riding.

Augmented with a custom forged 142x12 maxle compatible dropouts in the rear, the frame is further equipped to resist twist under heavy pedal loads and when cornering and descending. Up front, the matching tapered ChroMoly fork features a 15mm thru axle and a 470mm axle to crown length to keep the front low so that you can get the best climbing position. Additionally, the ROS 9 Plus frame also features clever details that are a little less noticeable, such as internal and external dropper routing, removable cable guides, Biocentric II Bottom Bracket and custom forged seat and chainstay bridges. With a BioCentric II bottom bracket, the frame is single-speed capable. If running this as a multi-speed, the BB height can be adjusted when using a BioCentric II bottom bracket to fit this bike to your specific needs.

Although the short chain stays and 3.0 tires limit the ROS 9 Plus to 1X only set up, Niner has kept the removable High Direct Mount on the seat tube for use with chain guides available for this standard. Additionally, Niner worked with MRP, to design mounts for a custom XCG Bash Guard to protect the precious chainrings from rocks, logs and other trail impacts.

The ROS 9 Plus NX Jenson bike features a formidable blend of components that deliver a high level of functionality and eye for substance over style. You can think of the ROS 9 as a bike with ADD whose only concern is going out and having fun and not thinking about anything else. For this reason, Niner paired it with a SRAM NX drivetrain which brings single ring living to this hyper bike, eliminating the front derailleur and a shifter to ensure the focus remains on having a blast. The Shimano SLX brakes deliver the stopping power and superior modulation of hydraulic disc, while keeping the cost minimal.

The Stan’s No Tubes Hugo wheelset features a 52mm wide rim on the outside and 49.9mm wide on the inside. The wheelset weighs 630 grams and is drilled for Schrader valves for ease of inflation. It features a double wall section in the middle and it has independent drop channels on each side for easy inflation and mounting. Niner and Race Face take on the cockpit duties with an alloy seatpost, handlebar, and stem.

The bottom line is, when a rowdy steel frame with a slackened headtube and chiseled chainstays meets the 29+ wheel, you get a bombproof bike that’s jonesin’ to be shown a goodtime.

Great bike.
Awesome package at the reduced price. Impressed by the entry leve NX group. Shift as well as the XT and OX1 groups on my other bikes, just a tad heavier and little less refined feel.

Love the Ros 9 plus!
Surprisingly fast considering it's a little porky.
Thinking about a carbon fork but I love the all green look!

So far so good
I've really enjoyed the bike since building it up last week. Perfectly functional build kit. Tubeless set up was a breeze with the Stars hoops and Bomboloni tires. I look forward to taking it out for a bike packing trip in the near future.

You will never regret buying this bike.
At first I was a little skeptical of the tire size, thinking it would kinda bog, but after riding it on some singletrack, I am nothing short of impressed. This bike rips! Coming from the downhill/enduring scene and spending years on 6"+ travel setups, I was a little nervous of going rigid. I was pleasantly surprised at how the steel frame and tires are so forgiving. I highly recommend at least demoing one of these rigs.
LOVE LOVE LOVE this bike! Fast and smooth. Geometry is incredibly responsive and flickable.
I'm 6' and the size L is perfect.
29 x 3.0 tires roll over everything and don't bog like a fat bike, yet tons of traction.

Great bike and deal
Fatbike handling just wasn't for me, but I'm definitely on the plus tire bandwagon. I've ridden a Krampus several times and just didn't like the fit and way it felt, even with adjustments. The ROS 9 Plus is a whip. It can be tossed around like a much lighter, skinnier tired bike, but has the great cushion and traction of the plus. For the money, this is a steal. It is my current go to bike for everything. I'll still get on the single speed 27.5+ once in a while, but it has been relegated to cruiser duty for now.

I'm 5'11" with a 33" inseam. Based on those basic measurements should I go with Medium or Large?

Description states Schrader valves but picture shows presta? What do we get with bike?
A shopper on Mar 27, 2017
BEST ANSWER: It came with presta tubes.
The hole is drilled for schrader.
Stans makes a tubless schrader valve.
Any chance this bike will accept standard 29er's or 27.5+ wheels?
Jared on May 5, 2017
BEST ANSWER: As long as you have the correct axle type and hub spacing you should have no problem.
If I were to order a suspension fork, what size front axel should I be looking for?
Jared on May 15, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You can run pretty much any standard fork on the market since the Thru-Axle on the front is a 15x100mm, non-Boost size. You'll just want to make sure it can clear 29x3.0" tires.
will this come in one box? what will be the 3D size of the box and total weight? thanks!
