Great for commuting!
When you don't want to bother with changing shoes just to be able to be connected with the pedals thses are your answer. I get a much more secure link with these straps than with toe clips. Nothing beats actual cleats for shoe to pedal connection, but when you don't want to carry an extra pair of shoes to work when commuting these straps are the best. The straps are tough and last for about five years when doing a daily workday commute of 7 miles.

PROS: Easy To Install, Lightweight, Durable

BEST USES: Road Biking, Casual Riding

Good for farm kids
My shoe requirements are determined by my environment: country living, including rocks, mud, weeds and manure. When riding I really don't want to change into a super hero wardrobe, I just need to be in a different location relatively quickly.

Power Grips allow me simply to attach my feet onto the pedals of my high racer. Nothing extra is needed.

PROS: Durable, Easy To Install

These are great for...
These are great for clipping in on short-to-medium trips around town in traffic. Good for commuters in street shoes or other urban riders.

A good step toward clipless pedals.
These are a great upgrade for those who want more grip to their pedal but either want to use a regular shoe or aren't psychologically ready for clipless. These offer a better grip than the old toe clips. (Although they require a smidge more intensive adjustment from user to user.)

It's also nice that if you aren't in the Power Grips, they won't make that dreadful scraping-on-pavement noise that an upside-down plastic or metal toe clip would.

The only negative is that they will begin to show their wear pretty quickly. The straps, after all, are a very reinforced, inflexible fabric. So after a few rotations along the pavement they will begin to look furry and frayed.

PROS: Better Grip Than Clips

CONS: Look Worn Quickly

BEST USES: Upgrade From Platforms, Commuting, Touring

Great accessory
I've had a set of these for probably twelve years. They've held up very well and I would recommend them for people like myself who have the feet of an ape and thusly cannot buy nifty bike shoes with clips :)

Great Durable Straps
These Straps are the best for commuting. The design allows you to easily get your shoes in and the diagonal desin of the strap allows you to change the angle of your shoe for a tighter or looser feel.
I use them on my fixed gear commuter and have had them on for two years and they still work excpetionally well. The only downfall is the adustability of the strap legnth requires tools.

PROS: Ease of Instalation, Easy to get in and out of, durability

CONS: Adjustability

BEST USES: Commuter bikes, Fixed gear, City Bikes

Great for a while
The screw which adjusts the strap broke the first night. The slow customer service tag is NOT jensonUSA but rather the actual company that produced the product. I asked for replacement hardware and it took 3 weeks for me to get a screw.

Aside from the screw problem, the powergrips are actually very good when functioning properly. Just be sure to adjust it properly and trim the strap so it doesn't scrape the road as you turn.

Going uphill definitely was easier and there was definitely more power in the pedal strokes.

Back to cons, while there was increased power because normal shoes were used in conjunction with these pedals there was a bit of discomfort in the soles of my feet and areas the strap held down my foot during longer rides. I switched the clipless and will never look back.

Bottomline: If properly adjusted and used for shorter rides it is an absolute upgrade to your bike. However I suggest you highly consider clipless if you are doing anything more than 10-15 minute rides.

PS using these straps made transitioning to clipless a breeze

PROS: cheap, Easy To Install, Easy to use, More power

CONS: Slow customer service, Weak parts

BEST USES: Uphills, To Gain More Power, Possible Transition Step
