The OneUp Components Switch system is a two-piece direct mount spider and chainring system. It consists of a direct mount spider, offered in 5 popular mounting standards and 3 offsets, as well as your choice of Oval or Round chainrings (sold seperatly) ranging from a 28 to 36 tooth count. It's also one of the most efficient and cost effective ways to deal with the increasing number of chainring and crank standards. The rings are removed and replaced easily due to a unique ring to spider interface. With just one tool, a 4mm allen key, the ring is dethatched and slips right over the crank arm. No need to remove a crank, spider or have multiple tools on hand to make a simple gear change. In matter of minutes, dial in your gear ratio, even between stages of your local enduro series on race day.
With theses quick-change rings and cheaper replacement costs, Switch has some very enticing benefits over the standard one-piece direct mount chainring set up. Get into a complete Switch chainring system at the same price as an existing direct mount chainring, but now the ring and carrier can be replaced individually and at a fraction of the cost.
One tool ring swaps are possible with just a 4mm ring allen key.
5 Ring Sizes in 28t to 36t counts for a dialed gear ratio.
2 ring profiles available Round or Oval. Pick your poison.
7075-T6 Aluminum Construction is both light, stiff and durable,
Super slick design that allows quick parking lot chain ring swaps from one size to the next. If you’re riding in a super steep area for a while, no worries - a quick chainring swap and you are good to go.
I got this guy because I wanted to try an oval ring setup. The best part about this thing is not that it allows you to change your chainring without taking off your cranks, it's the fact that replacing a ring now costs 1/4 of the price than one that mounts directly to your cranks. Keep the cinch direct mount adapter on your cranks and get a OneUp ring of your choosing for about $25 instead of $60-70 for a whole new direct mount ring.
The Cinch system lets you change out your chainrings but it requires taking off the drive side crankarm (with two different allen keys) then removing the Cinch chain ring with a bottom bracket tool. Reinstall takes the same three tools again. It is a great system - but not something you can do trailside - or even in a parking lot. This little adapter for the OneUp system takes all that out of the equation. Now changing chainrings is a piece of cake - one tool, less than 2 minutes! I have even carried two different chainrings on epic rides for those killer long steep hills. Seems to be strong enough so far - I weigh 220 and ride about 10-15 hours a week. Also, makes replacing chainrings about $20 cheaper per ring. What's not to like?
The Switch chain ring system is a genius little bit of engineering. I mated mine up with an 32 tooth oval ring. The system may seem a bit complex, but it's actually rather simple. Mounting a chain ring is very easy. You don't even need to take off the crank set. Been riding it for about a month now, and no creaks and nothing has come loose. I don't plan on changing rings mid ride, but I am considering buying a 34 tooth oval, just to have the option when I doing rides when I need a larger top end. Sure, I could accomplish the same thing with a standard direct mount set up, but with the Switch system, it's not only easier, it's far cheaper.
Love this chain ring didn't believe all the hype on an oval style chain ring until I tried this. 1up makes some fantastic components in this does not disappoint also makes trips to Pisgah really simple without having to take the crank off to change chainrings.
