Chromag Scarab Platform Pedal
Whether you're a park-rat or spend the weekends shredding the secret spot, the Chromag Scarab offers more room to rip! At 110 x 105mm, the Chromag Scarab offers one of the most spacious platforms available, while its slim profile and chamfered corners keep clearance ample. Chromag's proprietary extrusion and machined design sculpts an ultra thin, true dished profile that is only 13mm at the platforms center and weighs a mere 215 grams per pedal. The custom traction pins are constructed of a hardened steel to withstand the abuse, and feature two height options through a removable washer. Each Scarab pedal includes 42 pin positions for plenty of adjustment options.

If you're debating, don't. The best platforms out there.
Not only a beautiful work of art, but the most comfortable and "stickiest" platforms I've ever used. The large platform prevents that "foot ache" you get from riding platforms too long. I was practicing manuals, and thanks to the massive grip (combined with 510 Freeriders), I looped out and couldn't even get my feet off of the pedals. Thank goodness I've got ample cushioning on the backside...
If you're looking at pedals in this price range, you know what you're looking for, and I think you'd have a hard time doing better than the Scarabs.
Notes: the pins do seem to work themselves loose after riding, so I've heard folks dab a dot of blue Loctite on the threads and crank them down. Also, they don't bind, but they don't "spin forever", at least not initially; may take some time for the bearings to break in.

Red platforms
My new Scarabs are working just fine. I have a definite sense of connection with the bike. It's like I'm glued to it.
The studs don't get knocked off by rocks and roots like my other pedals. I like that a lot. Should've bought them in the first place.

Amazing Platforms!!
These pedals are everything you expect and hope for,..
The grip is excellent, the size is perfect for flat shoes, the customizing pins are a plus, the weight an low profile are dialed in for mountain biking and finally the quality is outstanding.
Im really happy with them and i would buy them again and again!

BEST ANSWER: Yes, 9/16" pedal thread size. Thread size of 1/2" is limited to low dollar one piece cranks.PH

Anyone know how these compare to the chromag contact pedals?
BEST ANSWER: Hi. Nicolas, i have this pedals in my trek superfly 9, is very solid, provide you a lot stability and in the hills when you stan up you feel very confident to keep pedaling. The only problem I can see in this product is the price but if ypu can afford them, go for it.
