The Kona Esatto D Bike 2015 is a modern bike, ready to do take on all your standard road bike needs, such as all-season training, group rides, Gran Fondos. Everything, in other words, it's a road bike, and Kona gave it sensibility, comfort, and all the benefits you gain from having disc brakes on board. Look at the Kona Scandium 69 tubeset, the full carbon disc-specific fork with tapered steerer, and the company's new Endurance Geometry that will help take the edge off of bigger rides. At this pricepoint, too, there won't be much of an edge on your purchase decision, either.

And for your money you get Shimano Tiagra shifters tied to a 12-28T cassette, an FSA Vero crank at 34/50T, and Hayes CX Comp brake calipers with a Hayes L-Series 160mm rotor out back, and an L-Series 140mm one in front. The wheelset is Alex CXC7, rolling Continental UltraSport II tires at 28 width, and Kona takes care of the bar, saddle and seatpost (Kona Road), the stem (Kona Road Light), and the clamp and bar tape. The headset is FSA No. 42. The Scandium frame tubes are actually something like 50 percent better than regular alloy. How? The scandium element does this by "straightening" out the grains of the alloy, making the metal less susceptible to failure. And Kona says the use of this allows them to shave weight from their aluminum frames by 10 to 15 percent.
