Niner One 9 RDO Frame 2014

From the moment of its inception, the Niner One 9 RDO was of a breed of its own; no other manufacturers were interested in making a purely single speed 29” mountain bike. Shortly after its release, many began to see the appeal of an easy and simple mountain bike. Many found these bikes just as capable as a short travel 26” mountain bike on the trail, in fact many preferred how light the bike was without a suspension fork and felt riding rigid on the trail provided a different riding experience. When a mountain bike is stripped of its gears and suspension, it’s truly calling the rider’s handling skills to task. Anything is possible; you’ve just got to choose the correct line and push harder!

The Niner One 9 RDO is the newest member of the hardtail RDO family, adding features and trimming weight at the same time. Like all new Niner frames, the One 9 RDO now features a tapered headtube for added strength and stability. To provide an equally stiff rear end, the 12x142mm rear axle offers the strongest rear end available today. Borrowing technology from the Air 9 RDO, the rear brake mounts are now tucked away inside the chainstay which evenly distributes the twisting forces while allowing for smaller caliper mounts and decreasing wall thickness (which ultimately saves more weight).

Along with being welcomed into the RDO family, the One 9 RDO is now geared (yet not completely). Although many would say this goes against what the One 9 stands for, it’s a feature many riders will appreciate. The One 9 RDO can now accept a rear derailleur for your favorite 1x drivetrain, made possible by use of the derailleur chip (included) and the proper CYA Insert (sold separately). This makes this already extremely lightweight frame (average weight of 1235g) stronger, lighter, and more versatile than ever before!
