Long gone are the days of steep head tube angles, skinny tires, narrow bars, and twitchy handling. The 4th generation of the Santa Cruz Blur is a UCI World Cup level cross country machine that’s ready to throw down between the tape one day and go out for an all-day backcountry exploration the next day. The ultra-lightweight carbon fiber frame features the all-new Superlight suspension platform instead of Santa Cruz’s traditional VPP platform. The addition of this new suspension platform has allowed Santa Cruz to shave a whopping 289g off of the V3 Blur. Not only is the Superlight platform a weight saver, but it’s also an incredibly efficient system that keeps the rear tire planted on climbs without sacrificing any watts. With its more progressive geometry, the Blur 4 is no slouch on the downhills either, modern reach numbers, large 29er wheels, and a 68.3-degree head tube angle ensure that you’ll be prepared for anything you encounter on the descents. A full-size dropper post with internal routing allows you to shift your weight further back and increases confidence while descending and cornering. Fork and rear shock lockouts allow you to turn the Blur V4 into a hardtail at the push of a button. Clearance for 29x2.4” tires means you can run your favorite cross country or aggressive cross country tires and a threaded bottom bracket and internal cable routing keeps maintenance dead simple. Santa Cruz even managed to stuff two full-sized water bottle mounts into the inside of the front triangle allowing you to stay hydrated on all-day backcountry excursions or multi-hour marathon races.

For the S tier build of the Blur 4 Santa Cruz went with a full SRAM GX Eagle 12-speed drivetrain with a massive dinner plate-sized 10-50t cassette for the steepest of climbs. Front suspension is handled by the ever-reliable Sid SL Select+ which offers 100mm of travel and plenty of adjustment at a very low weight. Suspension outback is provided by Rockshox in the form of a SidLuxe Select+ 100mm rear shock. The SRAM Level TL brakes stop you on a dime and offer plenty of modulation for navigating technical courses and trails. Stiff and lightweight tubeless-ready RaceFace AR Offset 27 rims are laced to buttery smooth DT Swiss 370 hubs using cult classic Sapim Race spokes. Paired with the RaceFace rims are a set of Maxxis Aspen 29x2.4” tires. The Aspens are fast-rolling while also offering tons of cornering grip. Raising and lowering the WTB saddle is handled by an SDG Tellis Dropper. Rounding off the build is a SRAM Atmos Flat Bar and SRAM Atmos Stem.
