The Avant is the all-road brainchild of Orbea's seventy plus years of using pure passion and in-house engineering to produce bicycles that meet the wants and needs of the modern cyclist. Since thoroughbred racers make up a relatively small fraction of the road cyclist population, the Avant delivers a formidable blend of comfort, endurance, and versatility for those who put a value on distance over speed. Nevertheless, the Avant should never be counted out on race day. Using Orbea's OMP carbon fiber construction, the Avant M20D frame is willing and able to fly over roads similar to Europe's iconic cobbled sectors.

Knowing that those who ultimately choose the Avant are undoubtedly strong cyclists who seek a more efficient position for journeying longer distances over varying terrain, Orbea has factored in an ergonomic design for conserving energy and increasing comfort during the long haul. This by no means equates to a bike that lacks force, but one that will reduce stress on the body so that every ounce of power is devoted to the pedal stroke. The seat stays and seat tube have been shaped specifically to enhance vertical stiffness for less repetitive stress on the body, while the higher stack, shorter reach, broader wheelbase, and longer chainstays increase stability and decrease vibration. With a drivetrain dominated by the Shimano Ultegra 6800 11 speed group, the Avant M20D captures the perfect combination of value and performance. Venturing deeper into uncharted territory, discreet fender and rack mounts allow the Avant to become its alter ego commuter/touring rig. Once the work week has concluded, the concealed mounting bosses are sure to go unnoticed at the weekend's gran fondo. As more and more roadies are fancying wider tire sizes, the Avant has the tire clearance to accommodate up to 28mm tires which are ideal for hard-pack dirt exploration, and also significantly increase comfort and stability during lengthy days in the saddle.
