I started riding mountain bikes about three years ago and in that time I've ridden a little over 2,000 miles. I have only ridden Specialized Henge Comp level 3 padded saddles and replaced them at about 1000 miles because they would start to get uncomfortable. I recently purchased a new Specialized Bike that came with a level 2 padded Henge Pro saddle that just wasn't comfortable. There are so many saddles out there that I figured I would just learn to live with the sit bone discomfort, minor perineal nerve pain and at times major low back pain. I found an article about the SQ Labs saddles and how they help all the problems I was suffering but the one area no one else addresses is hip misalignment; mine is 15mm. I have put ~150 miles on the 611 Ergowave Active S-Tube and all I can say is I'm very impressed. All of my pains are essentially gone and am now riding more each week than ever before. I am using the medium elastomer which is underrated for my 210 rider weight but recommended by SQ Labs because of my hip misalignment. There is no sensation of the active seat 'rocking' and with the seat step, climbing is much easier. My unequal leg length is no longer noticeable with the active seat either. I ride a lot of rocky steep up and down trails here in AZ and can't imagine riding on any other saddle. About me: 55 years old, flat pedal rider using 510 Shoes
Finally found a seat that is comfortable on 25 mile mtbike rides. The “fit kit” I ordered on their web site was critical with getting my sit bone measurement. I ordered the active saddle and it seems to provide enough flex to keep my sit bones adjusted to the “sweet spot” on the seat. The flat nose provides enough forward movement to keep the front wheel down and still allow a secure fit.
I rode 3,000 miles on a bike packing tour on the wrong saddle, the SQlab 611 Ergowave made a huge difference right from the start. I have this on my mt. bike and I like that your on your sit bones and not your perennial soft tissue. I’m speaking from experience when I say this saddle really does make a difference on long rides. The saddle is firm, your sit bones just have to adjust, which if your on your soft tissue that doesn’t happen, you just go numb and your groin gets irritated .
I purchased this because I had a narrow saddle, that my bike came with. I went to their website after doing lots of research and realized that the pain I had from every ride was exactly what they were showing. It clearly demonstrated what makes their saddle so great. I went on my first ride with this seat for 14 miles, about 3/4 was peddling uphill. There was no soreness like from the other saddle I used to have. I recommend this to those who have issues with discomfort.
this saddle is highly recommended relieving stress and butt pains specially during long rides. this is by far the most comfortable saddle and the lightest. i would suggest you have yourself fitted and buy one.
Replaced the Sqlab 60X on my SB150 with this saddle. The 60X was and still is great; I just moved it over to my hardtail and wanted to try something slightly different. The Sqlab 6xx saddles are the best I've used so far, especially if you value ergonomics and/or are recovering from any kind of lower back injury.
I found the SQ lab fit kit a little difficult to get an accurate measurement of my sitbones . After a couple of tries, I got what I thought was the best measurement and ordered the correct saddle. I really like the saddle. The rubber thing on the seat rails is difficult to change...
