As in life, cycling is full of twists and turns, ups and downs, and everything in between. Every bend of the Moloko Bar is meant to deal with the ever changing circumstances of a long distance trek. It offers a multitude of hand positions to keep you comfortable and in control over the course of a long day riding over varied terrain. It also has plenty of spots to mount your various accessories. Dangle a handlebar bag from it, strap some lights to it, throw a GPS on it (if that's your thing), and ride all day. It comes in a standard width of 735mm but if 685mm is more your style, don't you worry. They also added cut marks so you can easily make it so.
More like a bmx feel. More hand positions. Love it.
Having ridden multi-day gravel/trail rides with straight bars, I know what it feels like to be hunched over with limited places to position my hands. After my last 4 day trip, I put these surly bars on and so far, I dig the way it feels. The wide, back-swept grip allows me to sit more upright but I now have the aero posture available when I want to change it up. Cool! The bars give me more of a bmx feel, which Is not only is great for nostalgia, but also gives me more stability than my flat bars did. I even put BMX grips on the ends and it just feels great. I did change out my stem as well with a bit shorter and steeper angle. Since the bars don’t have any ride, I think that was an important modification. Hope this helps. Good luck.
great touring bars for surly or other bikes, they offer many hand positions and mounting options for accessories. They are a bit heavy but thats what Surly does so you know they are durable. Makes the hand position perfect for long rides and no numbness on my last 25 mile trek
Swapped the Moloko for the Jones H-Bar on my Surly Ogre. My most frequent position on the H-Bar was right where the new little nubs are on the Molko. The positioning is just what I expected; I'm a happy guy.
Component quality looks good, and for the size, the weight isn't too bad. These bars do change your position on the bike significantly however!
I've ridden for a week with the new bars (both dirt forest roads and commuting), and like any major position change I'm still getting used to how I'm fitting on the bike. I like that the bars did not shorten my cockpit at all, but they did lower my hand and body position. I am probably going to shorten my stem as I find I'm too stretched out to use the forward positions much. When I do try the forward position, the bike feels unstable, with control too far out over the front axle. I do like the hand position, and am very glad I had Ergon 2 grips with a good palm rest to allow some minor hand position changes. I was nervous about the rake angle as I'm moving from flat bars, but that was easy to adjust to.
Good service from Jensen; the bars arrived in 3 days in a large well padded box.
Time and some component fine tuning will determine whether I love or only just like the change!
